MEN Arena Attacks Appeal
The event was so close to home with us being located in Wythenshawe and a lot of us living in Manchester and the North West of England. We wanted to do as much as we could to help so we did a fast response fundraiser donating pizzas the night after the attack to the families waiting at the Children’s hospital in Manchester.
We hosted a bake sale to raise money for the victims and we donated the left over cakes to our local ambulance centre Sharston Ambulance Station who helped out on the night of the attack.
22 people died – including a number of children – after an explosion tore through a pop concert at Manchester Arena. More than 800 other people received physical or psychological injures in the blast at an Ariana Grande concert on May 22 2017. Terrorist Salman Abedi was named as the suicide bomber who carried out the attack. (Manchester Evening News, 2017)
The total our employees managed to raise was £800, and the company matched this so we donated £1,600 to the appeal.
